How to: Storage Trunk Makeover DIY

Turn a basic storage trunk into a beautiful antique side table with this easy makeover project. I grabbed this trunk at a yard sale for bucks and turned it into a stylish coffee table with Chalky Finish paint and a stencil from DecoArt.

Hey Mark I found 2 large trunks one is a little larger than one but you can tell there old. oh yea I got them for $5 each. both are covered with leather the Leather is coming loose and tarring some. The large one I started to clean up first when I looked in it had some blue looking wall paper but it was very very thin because when I started vacuuming on the inside it sucked the paper off . But I managed to save some. Then I started on the out side and it had a shipping label on the back the writing was very faint but I took a photo with my phone that way I could enlarger it so I could see it better. It had the mans name address where the trunk was coming from and where it was going. So I hit the ole Google up and found out he was in world war WWll. It had where he was stationed and where he was being deployed. I was going to do some chalk paint & stenciling but when I seen that I just stopped. I don't want it to ruin I don't know how to keep it from falling apart. I don't want to throw it a way I have to keep my eyes on my husband he has threatened to throw them on the burn pile. What can I do . I want to keep the integrity of the trunk and not let it ruin. I have a few ideas it I can run them by you then you can maybe let me know what you think. Thanks
    Lorrie
